In the early morning hours of June 7, 2022, the life of 32-year-old Donald Demetrius White, a Black male, was tragically cut short on a street in Baltimore, Maryland. At approximately 6:45 a.m., police were called to the 1900 block of Ramsey Street after a shot spotter alert indicated gunfire in the area. Upon their arrival, officers discovered White suffering from a gunshot wound.
Medics were called to the scene, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced deceased right there on the street.
The investigation into the shooting was taken over by homicide detectives who began to piece together the events that led to White's death. For months, the case remained under investigation as detectives collected physical evidence, reviewed video footage from the area, and interviewed potential witnesses. Their efforts were focused on identifying the individual responsible for the fatal shooting that had shaken the community.
After a thorough investigation that spanned over eight months, authorities were able to identify a suspect in the murder of Donald White. On February 23, 2023, members of the Warrant Task Force located and arrested 41-year-old Julius Tyrone Johnson in the 300 block of Monroe Street. Following an interview with homicide detectives, Johnson was transported to Central Booking. He has since been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bail.
