In the quiet of a Saturday evening in Oxon Hill, Maryland, the life of 29-year-old Kaya Dejuna Wilson was tragically cut short. On November 19, 2011, police responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment on Marcy Avenue. Inside, they discovered Wilson suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate response, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial shock of the event was amplified by a harrowing detail that emerged during the investigation: Wilson's 7-year-old daughter
was the one who called 911 for help. The young girl, in a state of shock, told the dispatcher that her mother was dead. She had been hiding under a bed next to her mother's body, having witnessed the horrific event along with three other children.
For nearly a year, the case remained a focal point for investigators. Then, in September 2012, a breakthrough occurred. The Prince George's County Police Department announced the arrests of two suspects in connection with Wilson's murder. Antonio Marcel Randall, 28, and Nathan Jonathan Farmer, 24, both from Oxon Hill, were taken into custody. Both men were subsequently charged with first-degree murder, among other offenses.
