Jameel Harrison, a 34-year-old Black or African American male, died on April 11, 2014, in Owings Mills, Maryland, after being shot by FBI agents. The incident unfolded on an access road in a bustling shopping area near a Walmart and Sam's Club on Reisterstown Road. At the time, three FBI agents were conducting a drug investigation and confronted Harrison while he was in his gray Infiniti SUV.
According to reports, as the agents surrounded his vehicle, Harrison attempted to back his SUV
through the traffic. In response, the three federal agents opened fire on the vehicle. A Baltimore County police officer was also present at the scene but did not discharge their weapon. The SUV's hood and windshield were left riddled with bullet holes. Harrison was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the shooting, it was reported that Harrison was a suspected member of the Black Guerrilla Family gang and had been under surveillance by law enforcement. Authorities indicated that at the time of the confrontation, they believed Harrison was attempting to purchase illegal drugs. His past criminal record included a recent guilty verdict on a drug charge, for which a six-month jail sentence had been suspended.
The investigation into the fatal shooting was conducted jointly by the FBI and the Baltimore County Police Homicide Unit. However, the final outcome of this investigation, including whether the use of deadly force by the FBI agents was deemed justified, has not been publicly released.
