In the spring of 2014, William Douglass Treadwell, a 42-year-old male, tragically lost his life on the evening of April 17th in Baltimore, Maryland. The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Wolfe Street, located in the Broadway East neighborhood of East Baltimore. Treadwell was in the vicinity of Wolfe Liquors, near the intersection of East Lanvale and Wolfe streets, when the fatal event unfolded.
According to a witness who was familiar with Treadwell from
the neighborhood, he was seen with two other men walking up Wolfe Street. As they neared the liquor store, gunshots suddenly rang out from the direction of Federal Street. The witness saw Treadwell fall to the sidewalk. Despite immediate efforts by the two men with him and a 911 call from the witness, his life could not be saved. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly after the shooting, having sustained a gunshot wound to the head. The witness noted that Treadwell was a known figure in the area and was not believed to have any conflicts with anyone.
The Baltimore Police Department's homicide unit promptly began an investigation into the shooting. However, in the immediate aftermath, authorities did not identify any suspects or a motive for the killing. Law enforcement officials appealed to the public for any information that could lead to a breakthrough in the case. Despite their efforts, the investigation was hampered by a lack of forthcoming witnesses and definitive evidence. Consequently, no arrests have been made in connection with the death of William Douglass Treadwell, and his case remains unsolved.
