In the early hours of a Sunday morning in November 2014, the quiet of a Landover, Maryland neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunfire. When police responded to the 1600 block of Brightseat Road at approximately 1:00 a.m., they discovered a man lying outside an apartment building, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The man was identified as 40-year-old John Savalas Brown of Northwest, Washington, D.C.
