Tsai-Lian Veronica Yu, a 30-year-old Taiwanese woman, was tragically killed on March 17, 1985, in Monterey Park, California. At the time of her death, she was a student at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. In the early morning hours, she was driving home when she was stopped by Richard Ramirez, a notorious serial killer known as the "Night Stalker." Ramirez dragged Tsai-Lian Veronica Yu from her vehicle and fatally shot her.

Richard Ramirez was responsible for a series of brutal crimes across California, including multiple murders, sexual assaults, and burglaries. His reign of terror lasted from 1984 to 1985, leaving a trail of devastation. Following an extensive investigation, Ramirez was arrested and later convicted of 13 counts of murder, including the killing of Tsai-Lian Veronica Yu. He was also found guilty of five attempted murders, 11 sexual assaults, and 14 burglaries.

On September 20, 1989, Ramirez was found guilty of all charges and sentenced to death. However, he remained on death row for decades, ultimately dying in prison in 2013. The murder of Tsai-Lian Veronica Yu was one of the many heinous crimes committed by Ramirez, marking a dark chapter in California's history.
