In the quiet evening of May 31, 2016, a burst of violence shattered the peace in a Capitol Heights, Maryland neighborhood, leaving a young man dead and a community searching for answers. The victim was identified as 23-year-old Darryl Antjuan Walker, a resident of Walker Mill Road in Capitol Heights. Around 9:00 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Kayak Avenue after reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Walker inside a car, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the immediate aftermath, detectives from the Homicide Unit began their investigation, canvassing the neighborhood for any leads. Investigators stated their belief that the shooting was not a random act of violence, but rather stemmed from an ongoing dispute between Clayburn and Walker.
