In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Dundalk, Maryland, a young man's life was tragically cut short. Twenty-year-old Tayvon Guy was in the unit block of Center Place on July 24, 2016, when an argument escalated into fatal violence. Just before 1:30 a.m., Guy was shot in the upper body. He was rushed to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the shooting led Baltimore County Police to a suspect.
Within a couple of days, an arrest was made. Anthony Fortune, a 23-year-old man, was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Tayvon Guy's death. According to police, an altercation between Fortune and Guy preceded the deadly shooting.
Following his arrest, Anthony Fortune was held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center. The incident remained under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Homicide Unit as they continued to piece together the events that led to the death of Tayvon Guy.
