In the cool evening of November 2, 2016, the life of 23-year-old Antjuan Tyrek Dantignac, a Black male from Capitol Heights, Maryland, was tragically cut short. Around 9:30 p.m., in the 4100 block of Byers Street, police responded to a call and found Dantignac suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a local hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
Detectives from the Prince George's County Police Department began an investigation into the
homicide. Investigators stated they did not believe the shooting was a random act and were actively working to identify a suspect and a motive in the case. In an effort to generate leads, a reward of up to $25,000 was offered for any information that would lead to an arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for Dantignac's death.
Despite the ongoing investigation and the offered reward, details regarding any potential suspects or arrests have not been publicly disclosed by law enforcement. The case has left a lingering sense of loss and a desire for answers within the community and among those who knew the young father. At the time of his passing, Antjuan was employed as a security officer and was remembered as a devoted father who cherished spending time with his son.
