Lashelle Goodwin, a 17-year-old from Waldorf, Maryland, tragically lost her life on March 23, 2017, in a harrowing incident of domestic violence. On that fateful evening, Carlton Goodwin, Lashelle's father, fatally shot her and her 4-year-old sister, Laila Goodwin, before turning the gun on himself in a murder-suicide^1^. The incident occurred at their family home on Westdale Court, where Carlton also critically injured his wife, who was later airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries.
