On an autumn morning in Edgewood, Maryland, the life of 48-year-old Enis Mrvoljak was tragically cut short in a burst of workplace violence. On October 18, 2017, a coworker, Radee Labeeb Prince, opened fire at Advanced Granite Solutions, killing Mrvoljak and two other colleagues, Bayarsaikhan Tudev, 53, and Jose Hidalgo Romero, 34. Two other employees were also shot and critically injured in the attack.
The gunman, Radee Labeeb Prince, who was 37 at the time, fled the scene after the
shooting, sparking a multi-state manhunt. His escape led him to Wilmington, Delaware, where he shot another man at a used car dealership. The victim in the second shooting survived. After an intensive search, law enforcement apprehended Prince in Newark, Delaware, later that same day.
The investigation into the deadly rampage revealed that Prince had gathered his coworkers before he began shooting. Although his defense attorneys argued that he had been bullied at work, prosecutors maintained the act was premeditated. Prince's legal team also pursued an insanity defense, claiming he was not criminally responsible for his actions due to mental health issues.
Ultimately, a Harford County jury found Radee Labeeb Prince guilty of three counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder. The judge subsequently ruled that he was criminally responsible, rejecting his insanity plea. For the murders, Prince received a sentence of three consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole, in addition to two more consecutive life sentences for the attempted murders. These sentences were to be served after a 40-year prison sentence he received for the shooting in Delaware.
