On July 30, 2023, in Lakehills, Texas, Randy Knox was fatally shot during a confrontation. Deputies from the Bandera County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of Oak Cliff, where they discovered Knox with gunshot wounds to his back and left armpit.
Surveillance footage obtained by investigators revealed that Knox had been involved in an argument with Eddie Montesdeoca. The video shows Montesdeoca drawing a handgun, pointing it at Knox, and then striking him with the weapon. As Knox attempted to flee, Montesdeoca pursued and shot him multiple times in the back, causing Knox to collapse. Subsequently, Linda Hernandez is seen approaching Knox and assaulting him with a pipe while he lay on the ground.
Following the incident, both suspects fled the scene. Hernandez was apprehended on July 31 and charged with murder and tampering with evidence. Montesdeoca was arrested on August 3, facing charges of murder, tampering with evidence, and possession of a firearm by a felon. Both individuals were booked into the Bandera County Jail.
