Robert "Bob" Hiaasen, a 59-year-old journalist and assistant editor at The Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland, was tragically killed on June 28, 2018, during a mass shooting at the newspaper's office. Hiaasen, along with four other staff members, was shot and killed by a gunman who entered the newsroom and opened fire.
