Terrell Singleton, a 46-year-old Black man, was killed on December 12, 2018, in East Baltimore. That evening, police were called to the 2500 block of E. Biddle Street, where they found him struck by multiple gunshots. He was rushed to Johns Hopkins Hospital, but he did not survive his wounds.
In the weeks that followed, homicide detectives worked the case, gathering evidence and narrowing in on a suspect.
By early January 2019, investigators had identified Gregory Fields as the person they believed was responsible, and an arrest warrant was obtained.
Fields was taken into custody on January 10, 2019, as he was leaving his home on the unit block of N. Belnord Avenue. During the arrest, police said they found an illegal handgun and narcotics in his possession. He was booked and charged with first-degree murder, along with handgun and controlled dangerous substance violations, marking a major step in the push to hold someone accountable for Singleton’s killing.
