In the winter of 2018, a welfare check on a quiet street in Beltsville, Maryland, led to a grim discovery. On the morning of December 29th, patrol officers were dispatched to the 11300 block of Evans Trail. Inside a car, they found 38-year-old David Ruen, a resident of nearby Laurel, unresponsive. He had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The subsequent investigation by homicide detectives uncovered a narrative of a drug transaction that had taken a violent
and fatal turn. Investigators determined that the motive behind the shooting was a robbery that occurred during an illegal drug deal. This led them to identify three individuals connected to the crime.
Authorities announced the arrests of three men in connection with the death of David Ruen. The suspects were identified as 44-year-old Kawanta Adams and 43-year-old Tarik Revel, both residents of Beltsville, and 43-year-old Clinton Revel from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. All three faced charges of first-degree murder and robbery. Following their apprehension, Kawanta Adams and Tarik Revel were held at the Prince George's County Department of Corrections, while Clinton Revel was taken into custody in North Carolina, awaiting extradition to face charges in Maryland.
