On the final night of 2018, just hours before Baltimore would ring in a new year, the life of 17-year-old Corey Moseley Jr. was tragically cut short. A former football player with dreams of completing his senior year of high school, Corey was known for his fun-loving nature and frequent jokes. He was also a proud and loving father to a one-year-old son.
On New Year's Eve, at approximately 10:03 p.m., Baltimore Police were called to Green Rose Lane, where they discovered Corey's body.
He had been shot, becoming the city's 309th homicide victim of the year. His death came just eight days before he would have celebrated his 18th birthday, a milestone he would never reach. The sudden and violent loss left his family and friends to grapple with the profound absence of a young man on the cusp of adulthood.
In the years that followed, an investigation into a violent Baltimore street gang known as 'Triple C' would bring a measure of justice for Corey's death. As part of a larger racketeering conspiracy case, Michael Chester, a member of the gang, pleaded guilty to the murder of Corey Moseley Jr. that occurred on December 31, 2018. Chester's plea was part of a series of convictions that dismantled a significant portion of the gang's criminal activities, which included multiple murders and other violent crimes throughout the city.
