Merlin Ramirez-Lara, a 20-year-old from Hyattsville, Maryland, was tragically shot and killed on April 9, 2019. The incident occurred in the early morning hours when officers responded to a welfare check in the 8600 block of 20th Avenue in Adelphi, Maryland. Upon arrival, they discovered Ramirez-Lara outside, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
