In the early morning hours of April 9, 2019, the quiet of an Adelphi neighborhood was broken by the discovery of a young man's body. Merlin Ramirez-Lara, a 20-year-old resident of Silver Spring, was found outside on 20th Avenue suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving a community in shock and a family to grapple with a sudden and violent loss.
