On a Tuesday afternoon, March 9, 2021, the life of 39-year-old Jerome Micos Dozier of Laurel, Maryland, was tragically cut short in a violent encounter inside a business in the 7300 block of Landover Road. At approximately 3:15 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting and discovered Dozier suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male victim’s death was a profound loss for his family, marking the third time his mother had to bury a child due to violence in Prince George's County. A GoFundMe campaign was initiated to help the family with funeral expenses.
The Prince George's County Police Department quickly launched an investigation into the homicide. Believing the shooting was not a random act, detectives released surveillance footage to the public showing two men inside the store moments before the fatal shots were fired. The community's assistance was sought, with a substantial reward offered for any information that would lead to an arrest and indictment of those responsible for Dozier's death.
Thanks to multiple tips from the community through Crime Solvers, investigators were able to identify and locate two suspects. Andre Marquise Wilson, 26, and Stephan Deangelo Wilson, 25, both from Washington, D.C., were arrested and charged in connection with the murder of Jerome Dozier. Preliminary investigations suggest that the shooting stemmed from an argument between Dozier and the two men, who are related. Stephan Wilson was identified as the suspected shooter. Both men faced a litany of charges, including first and second-degree murder, as well as assault and firearm-related offenses. Following their arrests, they were held without bond pending further legal proceedings.
