In the summer of 2019, a tragic event unfolded in Baltimore, Maryland, leading to the death of 29-year-old Taven Lowther. On June 12th, Lowther was at his apartment when he was fatally shot multiple times. The incident was part of a violent crime spree that gripped the city.
The circumstances leading to Lowther's death began to come to light with the investigation into a violent racketeering enterprise.
According to court documents, on the day of the incident, another individual was visiting Lowther at his apartment. A stolen vehicle carrying four men, two of whom were armed, pulled up and the men exited the vehicle. Their intention was robbery. While the visitor fled the scene on foot, Lowther resisted the assailants' demands. This resistance tragically cost him his life as he was shot multiple times. When the visitor returned to the scene, both Lowther's body and the visitor's car were gone; only Lowther's shoes remained.
In a significant development in the case, Karon Foster, a member of the criminal enterprise, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to participate in racketeering activity, a carjacking conspiracy, and aiding and abetting a carjacking resulting in death. His plea agreement detailed his involvement in a series of violent crimes, including the murder of Taven Lowther. Foster admitted to driving the stolen vehicle to and from the scene of the attempted robbery and murder. The plea agreement stipulated a recommended sentence of between 30 and 40 years in federal prison for his role in the extensive criminal activities that resulted in multiple deaths and injuries.
