On a tragic evening in Callaway, Maryland, the life of 29-year-old Felicia Renee Wagner was cut short. On Sunday, February 2, 2020, authorities responded to a chilling 911 call from a man who stated he had just killed his wife. When police arrived at the residence on Jo Marie Way, they found the front door unsecured and could see a person on the couch. Inside, they discovered Felicia Renee Wagner, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head. A handgun was found on a chair in the room.
The man who made the emergency call was identified as Felicia's husband, Timothy Christian Wagner, who was 36 years old at the time. After the shooting, he fled the scene. However, his attempt to escape was brief. Law enforcement located him in Charles County, where he was apprehended after a short vehicle chase and arrested without incident. During an interview with detectives, Timothy Wagner confessed to the murder, stating he was 'frustrated with the way his life was going.' He recounted that after taking a shower and a nap, he found his wife asleep on the couch, retrieved a handgun from his bedroom, stood behind her, and shot her multiple times.
Initially, Timothy Wagner entered a plea of not being criminally responsible for his actions. However, following a series of mental evaluations, a court psychologist determined he was competent to stand trial. Subsequently, in March 2021, Timothy Wagner pleaded guilty to first-degree murder. On August 13, 2021, he was sentenced to life in prison for what the State's Attorney described as the 'brutal execution style murder of his wife.'
