In the late hours of a Thursday evening in Germantown, Maryland, the sounds of gunfire shattered the quiet of a residential neighborhood. On August 20, 2020, inside a home on Bent Willow Circle, a burst of violence left two young men with gunshot wounds. Montgomery County police officers rushed to the scene just before 11:45 p.m., where they discovered 22-year-old Keyon Hebron and a 19-year-old man, both injured.
Hebron, a Black male, was quickly transported to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
The second victim was also hospitalized, though the extent of his injuries and his identity were not publicly disclosed. In the days that followed, detectives from the Major Crimes Division of the Montgomery County Police Department began the arduous task of piecing together the events that led to the deadly shooting. They canvassed the area and appealed to the public for any information that might shed light on what had transpired inside the home that night.
Despite their efforts, a motive for the shooting has not been released, and the authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the killing of Keyon Hebron. The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement continues to seek answers and justice for the young man whose life was cut short. A reward of up to $10,000 has been offered by Crime Solvers of Montgomery County for any information that leads to an arrest in connection with the homicide, leaving a community to mourn and await a resolution to the tragic loss of a young life.
