In the quiet suburb of Owings Mills, Maryland, a deadly encounter unfolded on the evening of October 12, 2020, forever altering the lives of those involved. Dwayne Edward Elliott III, a 25-year-old male from Baltimore, was found inside his vehicle on Christo Court, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. The discovery, made shortly after 6 p.m., prompted a swift response from Baltimore County police officers, who immediately began performing CPR in a desperate attempt to save his
life. Despite their efforts and his subsequent transport to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, Elliott succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The investigation that followed delved into the circumstances leading to the fatal shooting. Detectives soon uncovered that Elliott had arranged to meet with another individual for what police described as an illicit drug transaction. This meeting, however, took a violent turn, ending in the tragic loss of a young life. The focus of the investigation quickly narrowed to a single suspect, a man who had allegedly fled the scene after the shooting, leaving Elliott to be discovered by authorities.
Within weeks, the diligent work of the Baltimore County homicide detectives led to a significant breakthrough in the case. They identified 32-year-old Davon Dominic Curry of Owings Mills as the primary suspect. According to the investigation, during the course of the drug transaction, Curry allegedly shot Elliott. Following this, he was apprehended and subsequently charged with first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime. After a bail review hearing, Curry was ordered to be held without bond as he awaited legal proceedings.
