On Halloween morning, a family member made a grim discovery at a home in Jarrettsville, Maryland, finding the bodies of an elderly couple in what was later determined to be a murder-suicide. Thelma Weller, a 76-year-old female, was found deceased in a room of her Duxbury Court residence from a gunshot wound.
Responding deputies from the Harford County Sheriff's Office, who arrived at the scene at approximately 9:58 a.m. on October 31, 2020, also located her husband, 75-year-old Gregory Weller, deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.
Following an investigation by the Harford County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the incident was officially ruled a homicide and a subsequent suicide. Authorities concluded that Gregory Weller shot his wife before taking his own life. No other suspects were sought in connection with the deaths, and no arrests were made. The case was closed following the determination of it being a murder-suicide.
