In the early morning hours of January 11, 2021, the quiet of a Riverdale, Maryland neighborhood was shattered by a grim discovery. Outside an apartment building in the 3400 block of 55th Avenue in unincorporated Hyattsville, a 19-year-old male, Carlos Garcia Morales, was found unresponsive. When officers arrived at the scene at approximately 8:00 am, they found Morales suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
