On the night of February 19, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the evening quiet at the intersection of East Capitol Street and Yacht Place in Capitol Heights, Maryland, leaving two young men dead and another wounded. First responders, initially alerted to a vehicle collision around 8:50 p.m., arrived to find a car stopped with two occupants inside who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The victims were identified as 19-year-old Anthony Bernard Hunt and 23-year-old Octavaughn Dickerson, both residents of Washington D.C. A third male victim was discovered outside the vehicle, also suffering from a gunshot wound, and was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit took charge of the investigation into the double homicide.
