In the late afternoon of February 24, 2021, the quiet of a residential neighborhood in Suitland, Maryland, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. When patrol officers arrived at the 4400 block of Arnold Road around 5:30 p.m., they found a teenager suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was 15-year-old Rhyce Wingate-Bey, a male resident of nearby Washington, D.C. He was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead a short time later.
