On August 16, 2015, 22-year-old Reed Franklin Jr. was shot and killed in Suitland, Maryland, in what appeared not to be a random act. The incident occurred in the Village at Towne Square area, where Franklin was struck by numerous gunshots, with witnesses describing rapid, continuous bursts of gunfire.
