In the quiet seaside city of Virginia Beach, the life of 65-year-old Robin Kaye Tillery was brought to an unexpected and violent end on the evening of March 24, 2024. A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Ms. Tillery was a lifelong resident of the area, having been born in Virginia Beach on March 7, 1959. She was a graduate of Bayside High School and had dedicated 23 years of her career to the City of Chesapeake Social Services before retiring in 2021.

The circumstances of her death unfolded on a Sunday evening when Virginia Beach Police responded to a call of shots fired on Virginia Beach Boulevard. Upon their arrival, they discovered that Ms. Tillery had been fatally shot. The investigation into her death was swiftly classified as a homicide, sending ripples of concern through the community. Friends and family were left to grapple with the sudden loss of a woman described as kind, sweet, and caring, a person who brought a sense of peace and kindness wherever she went.
In the days following the tragic event, law enforcement officials made a significant breakthrough in the case. A Norfolk man, 47-year-old Louis Lee Jr., was arrested in connection with the shooting. He was subsequently charged with murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and brandishing a firearm. Following his arrest, Lee was arraigned and returned to jail to await a possible bond hearing. The suspect was later appointed a court attorney, with a preliminary hearing set for June of that year.
