In the spring of 2021, a family gathering in Rosedale, Maryland, turned into a scene of tragedy, leaving two people dead and a child wounded. On the night of Wednesday, March 31st, 19-year-old Grantley Herbert was fatally shot in what authorities believe was the culmination of a domestic dispute. The violence erupted around 11 p.m. in the 5500 block of Lanham Way, shattering the quiet of the neighborhood.
Alongside Grantley Herbert, 42-year-old Nyatiaha Faltz also lost her life in the
shooting. Both victims suffered gunshot wounds to their upper bodies and were pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital. An eight-year-old girl was also struck by gunfire, sustaining a non-life-threatening injury to her lower body. She was taken to the hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
In the aftermath of the deadly altercation, police quickly identified a suspect. Antowan S. Clark, a 42-year-old man, was arrested and subsequently charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Grantley Herbert and Nyatiaha Faltz. The incident was described by law enforcement as an isolated event stemming from a family argument. Clark was taken into custody, facing legal proceedings for his alleged role in the fatal shootings.
