In the early evening of July 11, 2021, the body of 28-year-old Candace Acevedo, a White female, was discovered under an overpass in Baltimore, Maryland. Responding to a call at approximately 5:29 p.m., patrol officers from the Southern District found her unresponsive at the intersection of South Monroe and Russell Streets. Paramedics were unable to revive her and pronounced her dead at the scene.
Following the discovery, Acevedo's body was taken to the Medical Examiner's office to
determine the cause of death. The examination concluded that she had been shot, and her death was subsequently ruled a homicide. The Baltimore Police Department's Homicide Unit took charge of the case, beginning an investigation into the circumstances that led to her death.
Detectives from the homicide unit appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the identification and arrest of those responsible for Acevedo's murder. Despite their efforts and pleas for community assistance, the investigation has not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in the case. Her case remains an open and active investigation as authorities continue to seek leads to bring justice for Candace Acevedo and her family.
