In the autumn of 2021, a life was tragically cut short in Hyattsville, Maryland. Anthony Yelverton, a 33-year-old male, was fatally shot on Tuesday, October 26th. The incident that led to his death unfolded in a residential area, forever altering the lives of those involved.
Responding to reports of a shooting, Prince George's County Police officers arrived at the scene on Atlee Drive. There, they discovered Yelverton suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate medical attention he received, his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the homicide quickly pointed to a suspect. Within a day of the shooting, law enforcement officials announced the arrest of a man in connection with Yelverton's death. The individual taken into custody was identified as being from Capitol Heights, Maryland. He was subsequently charged with first and second-degree murder, as well as other related charges.
