In the pre-dawn hours of November 13, 2021, the life of 16-year-old Quincy Emmanuel Barnes Dyson was tragically cut short in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. A Black/African American male and a student at Wise High School, Quincy was well-known in his community. The fatal events began to unfold around 4:30 a.m. in the 13500 block of Fenway Lane, a quiet residential street about a mile from his own home.
It was there that the sound of multiple gunshots, described by neighbors as resembling semi-automatic gunfire, shattered the morning's stillness.
Struck by the gunfire, Quincy demonstrated incredible resilience by managing to make his way back to his family's home on Ascott Drive. It was at his own doorstep that Prince George's County police officers found him, suffering from his wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but the severity of his injuries proved to be too great, and he was pronounced dead.
