On a tragic afternoon in Lexington Park, Maryland, the life of 19-year-old Joseph James Oakes was cut short. On January 12, 2022, deputies from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene of a reported shooting in the area of Pegg Road and Westbury Boulevard. Upon arrival, they discovered two male victims with gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, Joseph James Oakes was pronounced deceased at the scene.
