On the evening of Friday, September 13, 2024, in Lexington Park, Maryland, the life of 18-year-old Jovan William Medley was tragically cut short. At approximately 9:50 p.m., deputies from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the intersection of Midway Drive and Wasp Drive following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered the young man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were rendered at the scene in an attempt to save
his life, but despite these efforts, Jovan William Medley was pronounced dead. Witnesses in the vicinity reported hearing at least three gunshots around the time of the incident. The area was quickly secured by law enforcement, and a medivac helicopter that had been requested was subsequently canceled.
