In the early morning hours of April 26, 2022, the life of Dominic Bullock, a 37-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short on a street in Baltimore, Maryland. Just before 1 a.m., police responded to reports of gunfire in the 500 block of North Highland Avenue. Arriving at the scene, officers discovered Bullock suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the death of Dominic Bullock quickly led to a suspect.
Within a day, Baltimore Police arrested 30-year-old William Brown in connection with the killing. The incident, which also resulted in a second 36-year-old man being critically injured, stemmed from a dispute. While initial reports mentioned gunfire, charging documents indicated that Brown confessed to stabbing both Bullock and the other man after an argument escalated.
The legal process moved forward, and William Brown faced multiple charges, including first and second-degree murder, as well as attempted first and second-degree murder. In March 2023, Brown appeared in court and pleaded guilty to the murder of Dominic Bullock. The prosecution stated that the violent altercation erupted over a phone. As part of a plea agreement, Brown was sentenced to 40 years, with all but 20 years suspended, to be followed by five years of supervised probation for second-degree murder and a consecutive 20 years for first-degree assault. The court also recommended his participation in a mental health program. During the proceedings, Brown expressed remorse, addressing Bullock's mother directly in court.
