Chone Cummings, a 25-year-old Black male, was killed in a mass shooting on the afternoon of May 10, 2022, in Baltimore, Maryland. The incident occurred around 1:33 p.m. in the 700 block of North Rose Street, where gunfire erupted, injuring three other people. Cummings was found unresponsive at the scene, having sustained gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
In the immediate aftermath, those who knew Cummings described him as a man with
'great energy' and a smile that could light up a room. His girlfriend of 12 years shared that he was killed less than a month before his birthday and was deeply loved by his family and friends. A friend who was with Cummings in his final moments recounted rushing to his aid and calling for an ambulance as Cummings lay bleeding. Tragically, Cummings's brother was also among those shot and injured in the same incident.
Baltimore police began an investigation into the quadruple shooting, searching for the suspect or suspects responsible for the violence that shook the East Baltimore neighborhood. In the days following the shooting, authorities announced that a reward of up to $8,000 was being offered for any information that would lead to an arrest in connection with the murder of Chone Cummings.
