On the evening of May 12, 2022, Yahmell Montague, a 37-year-old Black male, was seated in a parked car in Baltimore, Maryland, alongside his 38-year-old fiancée, Angel Smith, who was seven months pregnant. As they sat on the 300 block of East 23rd Street, another vehicle approached, and at approximately 8:13 p.m., at least one person inside opened fire, striking both Montague and Smith multiple times.
