In the summer of 2022, the life of 18-year-old Jeremiah Williamson was tragically cut short in Baltimore, Maryland. On the evening of June 22nd, authorities were called to the 2500 block of Georgetown Road, near a set of railroad tracks in the Morrell Park neighborhood. There, they discovered a harrowing scene: a severely burned body, later identified as Williamson. An autopsy would reveal the grim truth that he had been shot in the head before being set on fire.
The young man, a male whose ethnicity was not publicly disclosed, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Williamson's death uncovered a connection to a carjacking that had occurred earlier the same day. It was revealed that both Williamson and his alleged killer were involved in this criminal activity. Near Williamson's body, investigators found a melted phone, cash, and a set of car keys. These keys belonged to a 2009 Honda Accord that had been reported stolen in a carjacking and was later found burned about 150 yards from where Williamson's body lay.
The case saw a significant development with the arrest of Jerritt Barron. Charging documents indicated that Barron and Williamson were together during the carjacking. Barron was subsequently charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and other gun-related offenses in connection with Williamson's death. In a turn of events, Barron pleaded guilty to the first-degree murder of Jeremiah Williamson. As a result of his plea, he was sentenced to serve 35 years in prison for his role in the brutal killing. He will also be subject to five years of supervised probation upon his release.
