In the evening hours of September 4, 2021, a dispute between neighbors in Baltimore, Maryland, escalated into a fatal act of violence. Travis Jamal Ben-Watkins, a 26-year-old male, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of Corley Road. First responders transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
Homicide detectives investigating the case soon learned that Ben-Watkins had been
engaged in a persistent conflict with a neighbor. This ongoing feud is believed to have culminated in the shooting that ended his life. The investigation led police to identify 38-year-old Alejandro Gonzalez as the primary suspect in the killing. A warrant for his arrest was issued, charging him with first-degree murder.
Following the issuance of the warrant, Gonzalez was located and taken into custody in Georgia. He was subsequently extradited back to Baltimore to face the murder charge. Court records indicated that a preliminary hearing for Gonzalez was scheduled for October 28, 2021. Travis Ben-Watkins, born on November 7, 1994, was remembered by his family for his love of football and the time he cherished spending with his children.
