On a Wednesday evening in Baltimore, the life of Turrell Davis, a 36-year-old Black male, was cut short by gunfire. The incident unfolded on September 14, 2022, in the 800 block of North Calhoun Street. When Western District patrol officers arrived at the scene to investigate a reported shooting, they found Davis suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
The violence of that evening also left another man, a 34-year-old, with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the buttocks. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. As the city's homicide detectives began their investigation into the double shooting, they worked to piece together the events that led to the fatal encounter. Their efforts soon focused on identifying a person of interest.
Through the course of their investigation, detectives were able to identify a suspect and obtain an arrest warrant. On November 8, 2022, members of the Warrant Apprehension Task Force located and arrested 23-year-old Knowledge Hamilton in the 4000 block of Norfolk Avenue in connection with the murder of Turrell Davis. Following his arrest, Hamilton was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was formally charged with first-degree murder. He was subsequently denied bail and has been awaiting trial. The legal proceedings have seen developments, including a rejected plea deal and postponements.
