Pamela Mae Buckley, aged 24, was found murdered on August 9, 1976, in Sumter County, South Carolina. Alongside her was James Paul Freund, aged 29. The two were discovered on a secluded dirt road near Interstate 95 and Old St. John Church Road. Both victims had been shot multiple times; Buckley was shot in the upper chest and through the neck, while Freund was shot three times in the upper chest. The weapon used was believed to be a .357 caliber revolver.
