Deputy Joseph C. Rodgers, a 25-year-old officer with the Florence County Sheriff's Office in South Carolina, tragically lost his life in the line of duty on April 9, 1997. Rodgers was responding to a call regarding a suspect involved in a double murder that had occurred two days prior. Upon arriving at the scene, Rodgers was shot and killed by the suspect.
