In the summer of 2011, a tragic series of events unfolded in Laurens County, South Carolina, culminating in the death of a dedicated law enforcement officer. Roger Dale Rice Jr., a 29-year-old Caucasian male, served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Laurens County Sheriff's Office. On the night of July 14, 2011, he was assisting the Fountain Inn Police Department in the search for a murder suspect, a mission that would ultimately cost him his life.
