In the early morning hours of September 16, 2011, a sense of loss befell a Charleston, South Carolina family. Thomas T. Shine, a 21-year-old male, was fatally wounded by gunfire in the downtown area of the city. At the time of the incident, his family reported that he had been waiting for a ride. The young man, known affectionately as 'Tommo' to his loved ones, was described as a loving son, a kind grandson, a proud father to his son, and a protective brother.
