In the winter of 2011, the community of Aiken, South Carolina, was shaken by the loss of one of its own. Master Public Safety Officer Edward Scott 'Scotty' Richardson, a 33-year-old male, died from gunshot wounds sustained during a traffic stop on the evening of Tuesday, December 20, 2011. A twelve-year veteran of the Aiken Department of Public Safety, he was a respected figure known for his dedication to the community he served.
