On a tragic day in June 2015, Jeremiah Wilson, a 32-year-old man, was shot and killed in his Ridgeland, South Carolina, home. The violent intrusion unfolded at his residence on Clover Circle, forever altering the lives of his family who were present at the time. Wilson's girlfriend and his four children were in the house when the fatal events transpired.
The incident began when two men, who were captured on the home's surveillance cameras, were greeted by Wilson on his porch.
Moments later, these men forced their way into the home at gunpoint, followed by a third accomplice who ran from a car into the house. The assailants ordered two of the children to the ground, while two others hid in a closet. Wilson was shot multiple times, suffering six gunshot wounds to his head, hand, and torso. The three men were then recorded by the surveillance system quickly leaving the home and driving away.
The investigation into Jeremiah Wilson's murder led to the identification of three suspects from Hampton County: Casey Kason Jones Jr., then 29, Jarod Tarrell Bostick, and Jones's father, Casey Kason Jones Sr. An extensive investigation conducted by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the Jasper County Sheriff's Office resulted in their arrests. The charges brought against the men included murder, first-degree burglary, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Casey Kason Jones Jr. also faced charges of kidnapping.
After a three-day trial in Jasper County General Sessions Court in October 2017, a jury found Casey Kason Jones Jr., then 31, and Jarod Bostick, then 28, guilty of the murder of Jeremiah Wilson. Both men were also convicted of first-degree burglary and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. They were each sentenced to 50 years in prison, with the sentences for each charge to be served consecutively. The third defendant, Casey Kason Jones Sr., was found not guilty of the same charges.
