Steven Brown, a 40-year-old football coach from Beaufort, South Carolina, tragically lost his life on October 31, 2015. Brown was hosting a Halloween party at the Elks Club on Church and Washington streets near downtown Beaufort to raise funds for his elementary football team, the Wildcats. During the event, a shooting occurred, and Brown was caught in the crossfire. Despite his efforts to de-escalate the situation, he was struck by stray bullets and died at the scene.
