Antonio Cortez Joiner, 27, a Black man from Birmingham, was killed in the early hours of April 25, 2016, after what began as a private party at the East Birmingham Lounge turned into a burst of gunfire and panic. Reports say the shooting started around 2:50 a.m. inside the club on Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard North and then spilled outside, with more than three dozen shots fired in the chaos.
