In a North Columbia motel room, the life of 25-year-old Tyron Donoven Jackson came to a tragic end on or around May 8, 2016. An employee of the Coronet Motel discovered his body, and it was later determined by the Richland County Coroner that he had died from a gunshot wound to the head. The discovery launched a suspicious death investigation by the Columbia Police Department.
Investigators began searching for persons of interest, releasing surveillance images to the public in the hopes
of gathering more information about what transpired in the motel room. Their efforts soon focused on Natila J. Tucker, a 41-year-old woman with a lengthy police record. She was located by detectives walking near the intersection of Main Street and Elmwood Avenue and brought in for questioning.
Following her interview with investigators, Tucker was arrested and charged with the murder of Tyron Donoven Jackson. Police stated that the shooting was the result of an argument and physical altercation between Tucker and Jackson concerning payment for sex. According to the police spokeswoman, the incident was isolated, occurring after Jackson had picked Tucker up. In addition to the murder charge, Tucker was also charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. She was subsequently booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center to await a bond hearing.
