Death by Force

Jaqui L. Jones, 37, a Black man, was found shot to death in the early hours of October 25, 2025, on New York Avenue in Columbia, South Carolina. Columbia Police officers were called to the scene shortly before 4:30 a.m., where they discovered Jones and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the gunfire. Later that weekend, Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford formally identified the victim as Jones of Columbia, confirming he died from a fatal shooting.
